Pre-Marital Counseling

Taking the step to get married is one of the biggest events in most people’s lives.  Yet, people often go into the biggest event of their life unprepared!  Pre-marital counseling helps couples to prepare for marriage, uncover the strengths and growth areas in the relationship, as well as to gain valuable relationship skills and tools that they will be able to use throughout their marriage.  Pre-marital counseling is SO important!  Research shows that pre-marital counseling reduces the divorce rate by 30%.

It’s not just first-timers to marriage that can benefit from pre-marital counseling.  Couples entering their second, third, or more marriage can also learn tools and techniques to improve and maintain their current relationship.  Identifying past inefficient patterns, baggage, and triggers help couples to choose healthier patterns of interaction and maintain harmony in the relationship.

Prepare and Enrich Assessment

The Prepare and Enrich Pre-Marital Assessment is a wonderful tool that we use with clients to understand their strengths and growth areas as a couple.  This assessment focuses on 9 primary areas:

  • Communication
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Leisure Activities
  • Relationship Roles
  • Spiritual Beliefs
  • Partner Style & Habits
  • Financial Management
  • Sexual Expectations
  • Family & Friends

Once the couple completes the Prepare and Enrich assessment, we receive a report with very detailed information on the couple’s strengths and growth areas.  From there, we create a plan of action to help the couple learn new skills and techniques to strengthen their growth areas and create a strong foundation for their marriage.
